The first-morning promise

If the first morning isn't right for your swimmer, tell us before the second one and the remaining mornings are refunded. No form, no argument. You are trusting us with a Christmas-week morning; this is our side of that.

What the four mornings cover

The detail club
training skips

Club sessions are built around lengths and sets. With a full lane there is rarely time to stop and fix a start, a turn or a stroke. Two hours a morning, a maximum of 16 swimmers a day and lanes grouped by pace give the coach that time.

All Four
Strokes

Technique work on freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, with a coach watching each swimmer rather than just setting the clock.

Starts

Getting off the blocks well: a clean entry, a strong streamline and a fast first few strokes, where a race is often decided.

Turns

Tumble and open turns, the push off the wall and the breakout. Every length has a turn, so the gains repeat in every race.

Race
Skills

Putting it together at speed: pacing, sprints, and relays that bring the starts and turns into a team race.

Who it's for

Club swimmers
aged 9 to 16

  • Trains with a club and is used to a coached session with sets and a pace clock.
  • Can comfortably swim 50m and 100m of more than one stroke.
  • Age 9 to 16 on the first day. Lanes are set by pace, so a quick 10-year-old and a steady 14-year-old may share one.
  • Coached by our head coach, Swim England qualified, who runs the club-swimmer and 1-to-1 coaching here the rest of the year.
  • Not for beginners. If your swimmer is still learning strokes, this is not the right camp for them, and we would rather say so now.

FAQ

Questions parents
ask first

Because 9 to 11am is the lane time the pool has in Christmas week. Swimmers are in the water at 9, out by 11 and changed by about 11:15, so the rest of the day is still theirs. Arrive by 8:40 and be on poolside by 8:55.

Yes. A single morning is £50 and you pick the mornings when you book. All four mornings are £150. A £2.50 booking fee is added to each booking.

By pace, not by age. Lanes are set from the 100m freestyle time you give at booking and adjusted after the first warm-up, so each swimmer trains alongside others at a similar speed. A maximum of 16 swimmers a day.

That is normal. Swimmers come from clubs across Hertfordshire and north London and are grouped by pace, so nobody is the odd one out. Most are in a lane with new faces by the first turn. And if it is not right after the first morning, the remaining mornings are refunded.
