Junior Drop-in Swim Sessions

Weekly 2-hour performance sessions for club swimmers — alongside your club, not instead of it. £20 a session or £70 for four.

When we train

One evening
a week

Drop-ins start once there's enough interest to fill the first two lanes. Register interest and tell us which evening suits — it decides the night we book.

Sunday
Evenings

Coming soon · time TBC

2 hours in the water at The Venue, Borehamwood. Friday evening is the alternative if more families want it.

Grouped
By Pace

8 swimmers a lane

Each lane matched on speed, the standard for squad training. We start on 2 lanes and open a third only when the first two are full.

Juniors
Only

Ages 9–17

Club swimmers only, no adults in the water. Adults train in our separate adult squad.

Entry level: Your swimmer should already train with a club and be able to swim 400m continuously. This is performance training, not a learn-to-swim session — if they're not in a club yet, ask us and we'll tell you honestly what would suit them.

Inside a session

Two hours,
no wasted lengths

Every session follows the same shape so swimmers can drop in any week and know what's coming. A coach is on deck from the first length to the last.

Warm-up & drills

A proper warm-up and stroke drills that prime the technique the main set is about to test.

Technique block

One skill per week — catch, rotation, breathing, kick timing — coached lane by lane, not shouted from the side.

Main set with targets

Intervals with target times set for each lane, so every swimmer knows exactly what they're swimming to.

Starts, turns & finishes

The skills that win races and get the least time in a busy club session: dives, walls, breakouts and the touch.

Feedback on deck

Cues and corrections through the whole session — and a note for home on what to work on at club.

Cool-down

Every session finishes properly. Recovery is part of the training.

Alongside your club

Works with your club,
not against it

A drop-in is extra coached water between club sessions — not a rival squad. There's no membership, no galas and no kit to buy. Your swimmer stays a club swimmer and races in their club's colours.

Club coaches can send us sets. If your club coach wants their swimmer to do a particular set, send it over and they'll swim it with us on deck. Club coaches are welcome to come and watch.

Is this for my swimmer?

Club swimmers who
want more water

Age-group club swimmers

Training two or three times a week with a club and ready for one more coached session with a different set of eyes on their stroke.

County hopefuls

Chasing a qualifying time and wanting extra race-pace work, starts and turns in the weeks before a meet.

Between club sessions

Swimmers whose club doesn't run on a Sunday, or who've missed sessions and want to keep their feel for the water.

Moving up a squad

Swimmers pushing for the next squad who need the volume and the skills to be ready when the trial comes.

Swimmers who've plateaued

Times have stalled. A new coach and a new set of targets often shake it loose.

Families trying us out

A single session is the lowest-cost way to see how we coach before a camp or clinic.

FAQ · Junior Drop-ins

Common
questions

Soon — we open the first sessions once there's enough interest to fill two lanes. Register interest with your email and you'll get the start date, the time and a booking link before anyone else.

£20 for a single 2-hour session, or £70 for four (£17.50 a session), used within 8 weeks. Nothing is charged until booking opens and you choose to book.

It shouldn't. Drop-ins run on an evening most clubs don't train, and they add to club training rather than replace it. Your club coach is welcome to send a set for your swimmer to do with us.

They should train with a club and be able to swim 400m continuously. Sessions are for club swimmers aged 9–17. It's performance training, not learn-to-swim.

By pace, not age. We ask for a recent 100m freestyle time when you book and use it to match each lane on speed — 8 swimmers a lane.

A drop-in keeps your swimmer training every week. A camp is a four- or five-day holiday block. A stroke clinic is a single session that fixes one thing. Many swimmers do all three.

Yes. A parent or guardian needs to stay on site for the session. Coaches are Swim England qualified and DBS-checked, a register is taken every session, and medical and emergency-contact details are collected at booking.

Group training

Drop-ins, camps
and clinics

Three ways to train with a group, alongside club. A drop-in keeps you training, a camp builds a block, a clinic fixes one thing — most swimmers use more than one.
