Herts Swim Coach runs its holiday swim camps in Borehamwood, WD6: short, focused blocks of coached pool time for competitive club swimmers aged 9 to 16 from across Hertfordshire. Each morning is two hours in the water with lanes grouped by ability and no more than 8 swimmers to a lane.
The camps fill the gap that club training leaves. Squad sessions are built around lengths and fitness, and with a full lane there is rarely time to stop and work on the detail. Camp mornings are built around exactly that detail: dives and starts, tumble and open turns, drills on all four strokes and race skills at speed.

The detail club
training skips
Dives and starts
Getting off the blocks well: a clean entry, a strong streamline and a fast first few strokes. The start is where races are won and lost before anyone has taken a breath.
Turns
Tumble turns and open turns, the push off the wall and the breakout into the stroke. Every length has a turn, so small gains add up across every race.
All four strokes
Technique drills on freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, with a coach watching each swimmer rather than just setting the clock.
Race skills at speed
Short sprints and relays that bring the starts and turns into a race, so the changes hold up when it matters.
The Venue, Borehamwood
The camps run in hired lanes at The Venue Leisure Centre, one of Hertfordshire's best-equipped leisure facilities, with a 25-metre pool. The lanes are ours for the session, not shared with public swimming.
The Venue is on Elstree Way, ten minutes from junction 23 of the M25, with paid parking on site. Elstree & Borehamwood station is under 20 minutes' walk, and families come from Elstree, Radlett, Bushey, Barnet and North London.

What to
expect
- Arrive changed and ready a few minutes before the start; check-in and checkout are on poolside
- Bring goggles and a hat (spares help), a water bottle and any kit listed with the booking
- Lanes are hired for the camp, not shared with public swimming
